Overview
Family farm offering 100% grassfed beef, raw honey, and pasture-raised eggs in southwest Manitoba.
Fresh Roots Farm is a family farm established in 2011 by Troy Stozek and Michelle Schram on land that has been farmed by Michelle's family for generations. The farm produces 100% grassfed beef, raw honey, and eggs from pasture-raised hens. Products are sold direct-to-consumer through an online store, with monthly delivery routes to Winnipeg and surrounding areas. Customers can order a la carte, pre-order bulk beef in quarter or half portions, or join a Meat Share subscription combining beef, eggs, and honey. Raw honey is also available at retail locations across Winnipeg and rural Manitoba. The farm is rooted in a commitment to direct relationships between growers and the families eating their food. Fresh Roots Farm raises its beef cattle on pasture from birth, finishing them exclusively on grass and forage with no grain at any stage. The farm uses adaptive holistic grazing, moving cattle often across paddocks to support soil health, plant diversity, and carbon sequestration. Cattle receive no ionophores, synthetic hormones, or chemical pesticides; antibiotics are used only case by case when animal health is at risk. Beef is dry-aged for at least 14 days. The farm practices pasture-based beekeeping, placing hives on regeneratively managed partner land across southwest Manitoba so bees access diverse prairie floral sources rather than monocultures. Raw honey is not pasteurized, heated, or fine-filtered. Laying hens are pasture-raised. Land management draws on Holistic Management principles studied by the owners, with the stated goal of improving and regenerating soil, plant life, and biodiversity rather than simply maintaining the status quo.
