Fifth-generation Iowa farm offering grass-finished beef, goat, butchery and cooking classes, and farm stays.
Whippoorwill Creek Farm is a fifth-generation, 580-acre regenerative farm in south central Iowa. It raises grass-finished beef and goats, and sells beef by grilling bundle, ground beef bundle, or by the quarter, half, and whole. Beyond direct beef sales, the farm operates as a destination: it hosts butchery, cooking, and team-building classes taught by farmer John Hogeland, a chef and butcher trained in San Francisco, as well as writing classes, on-farm dinners, farm tours, and overnight farm stays. John and Beth Hoffman, a food and agriculture writer, run the operation together. Learn more on their About Page.
Whippoorwill Creek Farm raises its cattle and goats on grass from start to finish. The animals are never fed corn or grain, and the farm does not use sprays or chemicals on its animals or its land. No GMO grains are used. The farm describes its approach as regenerative, with a stated goal of keeping the land healthy for future generations.
