Pasture-raised meat, dairy goats, and a farmstand CSA on a 60-acre Central Coast ranch.
Vicarious Ranch is a 60-acre working farm situated in Indian Valley near San Miguel on California's Central Coast. It is owned and operated by Mike and Christy Larsen, who transitioned from careers in the city to raise livestock and grow their own food. The ranch is home to a herd of dairy goats and sheep, Mangalitsa pigs, chickens, and ducks. Vegetable gardens and a small orchard of approximately 70 trees round out the property. A roadside farm stand offers meat, baked goods, jams, vegetables, lotions, soaps, and other seasonal products. Christy also runs a recipe blog, Sixty Acre Baker, focused on seasonal cooking and baking. Learn more on their About Page.
All animals at Vicarious Ranch are 100% pasture-raised on cross-fenced land managed through rotational grazing. The property is covered with seasonal native grasses, blue oaks, and pines, providing natural forage for the ruminants and pigs. The farm pursues sustainable and regenerative land stewardship. The farmstand CSA includes baked goods, eggs, freshly picked garden and orchard items, preserves, pickles, tinctures, syrups, salves, balms, spices, and teas, all made or grown at the farm.
