Seasonal farm stand selling biodynamic and certified organic produce, olive oil, and cut flowers from Filigreen Farm.
Velma's Farm Stand is the seasonal, public-facing stand of Filigreen Farm, a 97-acre diversified farm in Anderson Valley. It sells the farm's own fruits, vegetables, olive oil, and fresh-cut flowers. The stand operates through the summer and fall harvest season, opening with the first summer vegetables and blueberries and closing after the fresh-pressed oleo nuovo. It is named in honor of Velma Farrer, who worked the ranch alongside her husband for over 60 years, and sits on the same site as her original roadside stand. Filigreen Farm also supplies produce to restaurants, food hubs, and wholesale florists throughout the region. Learn more on their About Page.
Filigreen Farm holds both Demeter-certified Biodynamic and CCOF-certified organic status. Its soil health program centers on on-site nutrient production: cover crops are sown in orchard rows each winter and turned under in spring to build fertility; azolla, a nitrogen-rich aquatic fern, is cultivated in two dedicated ponds and has replaced the need for imported manure in compost production; and finished compost is inoculated with Biodynamic preparations and brewed into compost teas in underground amphorae. The farm also works with water revitalization techniques, including handmade concrete flowforms and vortex spinners, as part of its Biodynamic practice. Most inputs are sourced on-site, with the stated goal of farming the land as a self-sustaining organism.
