Oz Farm & Retreat Center is a 240-acre working farm and retreat center set in a private valley bordered by redwood forest, with the Garcia River running through the property. Growing certified organic (CCOF) produce since 1990, the farm raises apples, pears, and a broad range of seasonal vegetables across six acres in production. Its apple orchard specializes in rare, antique, and heirloom varieties trained on trellises in the style of wine-grape vineyards. The farm also produces small-batch hard cider pressed from estate-grown organic apples, fermented with native yeast in an on-site cidery. A seasonal CSA program runs from June through November, and produce is also sold at local farmers markets. Oz Farm & Retreat Center holds a CCOF-certified organic certification covering its six acres of produce and its apple orchards, a status maintained since 1990. The orchard's three acres are organically tended and planted with over 50 rare and heirloom cider apple varieties. Hard cider is produced exclusively from organic apple juice pressed from the farm's own orchards, fermented with native yeast, and made in small batches in a barn adjacent to the orchard. Apples that cannot be sold as dessert-grade are upcycled into cider rather than composted. The farm describes its orchard management as regenerative, with soils continuously revitalized by seasonal Garcia River flooding. The entire operation, including the cidery, runs off-grid on solar and wind power.
