Certified organic vegetable and flower CSA farm with year-round shares and a farm stand.
Upswing Farm is a small, diversified vegetable farm with a permanent location in Pepperell, MA. It offers four-season CSA shares (spring, summer, fall, and winter), a flower CSA, a farm stand, and participates in the Ashland Farmers Market. CSA members choose their own produce at pick-up, market style, from a wide selection each week. The farm also offers a seedling sale and a recipe library organized by vegetable. Pick-up locations extend beyond the farm itself, with options in Holliston and Hopkinton. Upswing Farm is certified organic. It uses crop production methods focused on building soil health, including composting, reduced tillage, and cover cropping. The farm avoids chemical pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides, and minimizes the use of organically approved sprays as well. Instead, it relies on preventive approaches: crop rotation, pest exclusion, regionally appropriate planting dates and varieties, proper plant spacing, and multiple crop successions. The farm grows 60 to 80 crops per season, planting multiple varieties of each to account for varying weather conditions. It plans its harvest schedule around CSA pick-up days to prioritize freshness for members.
