Certified organic vegetable and fruit CSA farm offering weekly shares and farmers market produce.
Uphill Farm is a small certified organic farm run by Steph, who has been farming since 2005. The farm offers an 18-week CSA season running from early June through mid-October, with shares made up of a rotating variety of vegetables and fruits harvested each week. Crops include strawberries, blueberries, tomatoes, peppers, carrots, beets, zucchini, winter squash, garlic, cucumbers, melons, kale, potatoes, herbs, and more. Uphill Farm also raises chickens and ducks on the property. In addition to the CSA, the farm sells at a farmers market. CSA members can choose home delivery (on select routes) or on-farm pickup. Uphill Farm holds USDA Organic certification and is also certified through the Real Organic Project, an add-on certification focused on soil-grown produce and pasture-raised animals. The farm uses a no-till approach to preserve soil biology, reduce weed pressure over time, and conserve soil moisture. Steph's stated intention is to avoid spraying herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides, including organic-approved versions, out of concern for environmental impact and long-term soil health. Soil fertility relies on compost made on the farm, mulches from leaves and grass clippings collected on the property, cover crops, and contributions from the farm's chickens and ducks. The farm also works to attract and support beneficial wildlife, including birds, snakes, frogs, toads, and beneficial insects, as part of a diversified system. Uphill Farm avoids single-use plastic bags, delivering CSA shares in reusable waxed cardboard boxes.
