Diverse small farm offering vegetables, pastured pork, eggs, goat cheese, and a CSA in Northern New Hampshire.
Meadowstone Farm is a small, diverse farm operating on land with agricultural roots dating to the mid-1800s; the current owners purchased it in 2003 and farm it today. The farm produces fruits and vegetables, pastured pork, eggs, goat cheese, seedlings, flowers, and compost. Products are available through a seasonal CSA program, a year-round on-farm stand open seven days a week, and meat boxes. The CSA offers spring, summer, and fall share options, with add-ons for eggs, ground beef, pork sausage, and flowers. Meadowstone also partners with local food pantries to provide CSA shares to families in need. The farm runs a pick-your-own blueberry and flower operation and produces feta, chevre, and tomme from its licensed goat dairy. Learn more on their About Page.
Meadowstone Farm calls its approach "Beyond Organic," following practices it considers stricter than certified organic standards while remaining outside the certification program. Animals rotate through pastures in set order: goats, then pigs, then chickens, letting each forage and supporting pasture regrowth. Laying hens live in repurposed RV chicken trailers and eat Morrison's Organic poultry feed, food scraps from local restaurants and grocers, and spent grain from a local brewery. Goats (Alpine, Nubian, and Saanen) receive Morrison Organic Dairy Grain, organic kelp, and spent brewery grain, and spend the growing season on pasture. Pigs eat Morrison's Organic Grain, spent brewery grain, and cheese whey from the farm's goat dairy; no hormones, antibiotics, or medications are used. Pork bacon is smoked nitrate-free. Dedicated fields grow oats, mangel beets, and forage turnips to supplement animal diets, while other fields grow cover and forage crops for soil and animal nutrition.
