Pasture-raised beef, pork, poultry, and eggs from a 600-acre Connecticut farm with an on-farm meat shop.
Toplands Farm is a roughly 600-acre working farm in Roxbury, Connecticut, in the Diebold family since 1942. Originally a diversified dairy operation, it shifted to hay production in the mid-1990s and has since expanded into raising beef, pork, poultry, and laying hens. The farm sells its pasture-raised beef, pork, whole and cut-up roasting chickens, turkey, eggs, and ten varieties of sausage through an on-farm meat shop housed in the main cow barn. Customers can also purchase sides of beef or pork, with the animal raised at the farm and delivered through a local butcher. A CSA program offers quarterly shares with monthly pickup. The farm is also home to Double D Living History Farm, which maintains what it describes as the largest collection of restored antique tractors and farm equipment in the Northeast. Toplands Farm raises its beef, pork, poultry, and eggs on pasture, and describes its products as pasture-raised. Animals on the farm include beef cattle, pigs, chickens, donkeys, goats, and sheep. The farm grows hay on its acreage to feed its beef herd. Customers purchasing a side of beef or pork pay the farm to raise the animal on-site in Litchfield County, then work directly with a local butcher for processing.
