Pasture-raised meats, free-range eggs, and locally sourced raw honey from a Kentucky family farm.
The Nolt Homestead is a family farm in Hopkinsville, Kentucky raising pastured chicken, grass-finished beef, pastured pork, pastured rabbit, and free-range eggs. The farm also sells locally sourced raw honey and offers raw grass-fed cow's milk and butter for pets. The Nolts began farming after a personal loss in the mid-1990s, initially working conventionally before shifting to a chemical-free, grass-based approach after learning about the role of healthy soil in raising nutrient-dense food. Products are available at local farmers markets; the farm does not ship. Learn more on their About Page.
Chickens are housed in portable field shelters and spend time outside on pasture, scratching the soil. Beef cattle are grass-finished and moved to a fresh paddock daily, a rotation the farm credits with thickening grass, reducing weeds, and improving soil health. Pigs root in the woods for grubs, roots, and acorns and are rotated to a new pasture every few days; their feed is supplemented with a non-GMO grain mix. Rabbits are raised outdoors with access to fresh grass, clover, and sunshine. The farm uses no chemicals, and the grain fed to hogs and chickens is non-GMO.
