The Eaton Farm is a 115-acre family farm on Scott's Ridge in Jefferson County, Indiana, operated by Jerry and Liz Eaton, who have farmed together full-time since 2008. The farm raises 100% grassfed beef, woodlot pork, pastured chickens and turkeys, and laying hens, alongside fresh produce, raw honey, and natural soaps and salves. Jerry and Liz met at Berea College, where both earned degrees in Agriculture and Natural Resources. The farm also rents 15 neighboring acres of hay ground. Produce is grown without synthetic herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers, or GMOs. For soil fertility, The Eaton Farm uses composted animal manure and cover crops, and controls weeds through shallow cultivation and hand-weeding. Beef cattle are 100% grassfed and pasture-grazed, receiving no grains, hormones, non-therapeutic antibiotics, animal by-products, or steroids. Laying hens are pastured on rotated grasses and clover and receive non-GMO feed free of antibiotics, by-products, hormones, and steroids. Broiler chickens and turkeys are also raised on rotated pasture and fed non-GMO, pharmaceutical-free feed; broilers are processed at a family-operated facility. Pigs have access to the farm's forested hillsides, foraging on acorns, wild nuts, roots, grasses, and legumes, supplemented with farm-ground non-GMO feed, with no hormones, non-therapeutic antibiotics, animal by-products, or steroids used. The farm maintains eight beehives and harvests raw, unpasteurized honey.
