Pasture-raised chicken, Berkshire pork, lamb, and culinary garlic from a first-generation family farm.
Cottage Pastures is a first-generation regenerative family farm founded in September 2022 by Mathew and Carissa Winters on 26 acres in Switzerland County, Indiana. The farm raises pasture-raised, air-chilled chicken; Berkshire pork; and lamb, alongside culinary garlic (hardneck and softneck varieties) and herbs. Products are available for farm pickup in Vevay or shipped frozen nationwide. The farm also welcomes visitors for tours, homesteading workshops, and seasonal gatherings, including field trips for schools.
Cottage Pastures raises chickens on open pasture, moving them to fresh ground on a regular rotation. Pigs are raised in the woods and on pasture as Berkshire heritage-breed hogs. Chickens and pigs are fed a proprietary soy- and corn-free ration developed in cooperation with Fertrell and sourced from an organic-certified feed mill. The farm uses no antibiotics at any point, no added hormones, and no vaccinations for chickens, relying on natural remedies for health management. Cattle and sheep live primarily off forage and hay, including at finishing. The farm does not use synthetic chemicals and follows OMRI guidelines for any inputs. Cottage Pastures describes its approach as regenerative: animals build the soil, the soil grows the pasture, and the pasture feeds the animals.
