Biodynamic CSA farm offering vegetables, raw milk, farmstead cheese, yogurt, and eggs since 1986.
Temple-Wilton Community Farm is a CSA farm founded in 1986 by Trauger Groh, Lincoln Geiger, and Anthony Graham, operating on over 150 acres of conserved historic farmland. Its membership of close to 100 households supports the farm through monthly pledges and receives vegetables and milk in return, with pledge amounts set by each member according to their means. The farm store is open seven days a week and carries 40-plus varieties of vegetables, including storage crops available through winter. Through its Abbot Hill Creamery, the farm produces raw-milk cheeses (including Camembert, Feta, Mozzarella, and Quark), plain whole-milk yogurt in returnable glass jars, and bottled raw milk. Eggs, meat, and selected items from neighboring producers are also available in the store. All produce is picked up at the farm.
Temple-Wilton Community Farm grows its vegetables and raises its animals using biodynamic and organic methods. The farm is registered as a Mentor Farm with the Biodynamic Association's internship program. Its dairy herd of 18 cows is grass-fed, and all cheese at Abbot Hill Creamery is made with raw milk from that herd. The farm runs an internship program covering vegetable production, dairy, and cheesemaking, with interns working in the fields, greenhouse, and creamery. A founding principle of the farm is to separate food from market pricing: members pledge according to their ability to pay rather than the quantity of food they take, and all unprocessed farm produce is available to members who meet the proposed annual budget through their contributions.
