Sweet Beet Market and Café is a year-round local food market and café located in the Old Bradford Inn, operating as a program of the nonprofit Kearsarge Food Hub. The market carries seasonal produce, pasture-raised meats, fresh and frozen seafood, dairy, eggs, fresh-baked goods, craft beverages, and pantry staples sourced from more than 150 local and regional farms, fisheries, and makers. The café serves a rotating seasonal menu of breakfast sandwiches, wraps, grain bowls, soups, and sweet treats, with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options available alongside grab-and-go meals. Purchases at Sweet Beet directly support the Kearsarge Food Hub's broader nonprofit work in food security, education, and local food system building. The market also accepts SNAP/EBT and offers a discount program for seniors, military, and career farmers. Learn more on their About Page.
Sweet Beet Market and Café sources from more than 150 hyper-local, local, and regional vendors, including its own Sweet Beet Farm, in addition to named partners such as Silver Hill Farm, Yankee Farmers Market, Short Creek Farm, and Kisakanari Farm for grass-fed meats; Victor's Eggs, Abbott Hill Creamery, and Contoocook Creamery for eggs and dairy; and Southern Maine Crabs and Coastline Seafood for fresh seafood. Baked goods come from Peony Place and Abigail's Bakery. The café menu is built around locally sourced ingredients (marked on the menu with an asterisk) and rotates with the seasons to reflect what is available from nearby farms. The café takes inspiration from global cuisine while keeping dishes rooted in local ingredients, working directly with nearby farmers and producers.
