Sunset Ranch of Escambia Farms is a small family farm in the NW Florida Panhandle raising beef, pork, pastured poultry, and eggs. The farm began preparing its land for animals roughly twelve years ago, and it takes its name from the sunsets visible on the property. Its cattle breeds include a Parthenaise and Limousine mix; its meat chickens are Jumbo Cornish Cross; its laying hens are Rhode Island Reds; and its pigs are a Yorkshire, Berkshire, and Duroc mix. Sunset Ranch of Escambia Farms raises its beef cattle on a rotational grazing system, with cows 100% grass-fed and finished and never supplemented with grain. The farm commits to feeding no genetically modified (GMO) grain to any of its animals. Broiler chickens are housed in portable field shelters and spend eight weeks on pasture; laying hens free-range from mobile hen houses, following the cattle herd to scratch through pasture. Pigs are raised in wooded areas and rotated monthly so they do not exhaust forage resources. The farm does not administer routine antibiotics or medications to its animals.
