Regenerative medicinal herb farm growing moringa, wildcrafted mullein, and sweet gum extract in south Alabama since 2011.
Mayim Farm is a small regenerative medicinal herb farm in Opp, Alabama, operated by Greg and Carole Lolley since 2011. The farm grows moringa from seed to finished bag on its own fields and wildcrafts mullein and sweet gum by hand from the surrounding land. Products include dried moringa leaves and powder, wildcrafted mullein, sweet gum ball extract (a source of shikimic acid), herbal teas, whole-leaf powders, capsules, and medicinal mushrooms. Everything is harvested, dried, processed, and packed by the Lolleys themselves, with no co-packer or outside facility involved. Mayim Farm is a member of Sweet Grown Alabama. Mayim Farm uses regenerative practices throughout: no synthetic fertilizers, no synthetic pesticides, and no industrial shortcuts. The farm builds soil biology by working with the plants and microbes naturally present on the land, observing conditions before making changes, and matching crops to what the land can support. Moringa is grown on the farm's own fields; mullein and sweet gum are wildcrafted by hand from the land in south Alabama. Products are processed in small batches by hand. When ingredients are sourced from outside the farm, Mayim Farm says so plainly on the product page. A USDA and NRCS cost-share program helped fund a tunnel house that extends the growing season for long-cycle plants. Greg holds a Master Naturalist credential and both Greg and Carole are Master Gardeners with the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service.
