Certified organic produce, pastured eggs, and walnuts from a Capay Valley farm
Sun Tracker Farm was established in 2016 by Carine and Robert Hines on a 28-acre property bordering Cache Creek in the Capay Valley. The farm grows annual fruits and vegetables and raises pastured chickens for eggs, with walnuts also grown on the property. Produce is started from seed in the farm's greenhouse and then transplanted to the fields, with varieties selected for flavor and often grown in delicate sizes. Seasonal crops span potatoes, lettuces, melons, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, winter squash, and more, alongside year-round pastured eggs. Products are available at the Saturday Napa Farmers Market and through wholesale partners including Fruitqueen, Spork Food Hub, and Capay Valley Farm Shop.
Sun Tracker Farm is certified organic through CCOF under the USDA National Organic Program and is also a member of the Real Organic Project. The farm uses an integrated approach built around pastured poultry, compost, cover crop, and crop rotation. Chickens are moved to fresh pasture twice a week and receive produce leftovers as feed. Soil inputs consist of compost and gypsum minerals. The farm manages its riparian area along Cache Creek alongside cultivated land, and centers its farming decisions on the effect each practice has on soil health and its microbiota.
