Pasture-raised beef, pork, lamb, and poultry from a Big Island family farm, with beef shares and a meat CSA.
Sugar Hill Farmstead is a family-run farm on the Hamakua Coast of the Big Island of Hawaii, operated by Bodhi and Brittany Anderson. Bodhi is a sixth-generation kama'aina carrying on his great-grandfather's legacy on the land. The farm raises 100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef, pasture-raised pork, lamb, chicken, and goat, and also offers wild-caught fish and pantry staples. Customers can order individual cuts, sampler boxes, beef shares in sizes from 1/16 to 1/2, or monthly CSA subscriptions. The farm was recognized as the Hamakua District Farmer/Rancher of the Year by the USDA in 2023.
Sugar Hill Farmstead raises its animals on open pasture using rotational grazing with cattle, sheep, pigs, and chickens. All meats are raised without added hormones, antibiotics, or chemicals, and beef is grass-fed and grass-finished. The farm practices regenerative agriculture and has partnered with the NRCS for conservation grants. It operates fully off-grid, powered by solar energy supplemented by wind power, sources its water from on-site rainwater catchment, and runs a composting facility as part of a closed-loop farming system. Animals are harvested on the farm by the farmers themselves.
