Family-run micro-farm offering seasonal CSA produce shares in the West Sierra foothills.
Soil Stock is the Ledson family's micro-farm, operating a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program in Camptonville, California. The farm grows vine-ripened vegetables, herbs, and fruit, delivering shares weekly to members in Camptonville, Downieville, and Sierra City during the summer growing season. Members choose from a full or half vegetable share, each providing a weekly allotment of whatever the farm has harvested that week. The farm's small scale lets the Ledsons tend every plant personally. Members can receive weekly deliveries or pick up shares directly at the farm.
Soil Stock uses GMO-free, certified organic seeds and starter plants throughout its raised garden beds. The beds are filled with organic soil and organic compost, and plants are fed exclusively with certified organic fertilizer and compost tea. The farm is irrigated with untreated well water. Pesticides and synthetic chemicals are not applied; instead, the small scale of the operation allows the farmers to monitor every plant and address problems before any chemical intervention is needed. The farm describes its approach as sustainable, earth-friendly, and focused on building productive, healthy soil as the foundation for strong plant growth.
