Year-round organic vegetable CSA and farm boxes from the oldest and largest CSA farm in the Sierras.
Mountain Bounty Farm is an 18-acre organic working farm on the San Juan Ridge near Nevada City, California, founded in 1997 by John Tecklin. It describes itself as the oldest and largest CSA farm in the Sierras, now run by a collaborative team of farmers. Its year-round CSA delivers weekly farm boxes of vegetables in two sizes, with flexible billing and unlimited vacation holds. Seasonal add-on shares are available for fruit, flowers, mushrooms, coffee, and bread. The farm also sells produce at the Nevada City Farmers Market and to local grocers and restaurants. Members receive a weekly newsletter with box contents and recipes. Learn more on their About Page.
Mountain Bounty Farm is certified organic by CCOF. Its farming approach centers on soil health, relying on cover crops, beneficial insectary plantings, compost, and organic soil amendments. During the summer growing season (May through November), all vegetable share produce comes from the farm itself. In winter (December through April), the farm supplements its own harvest with produce from a curated group of trusted Northern California organic farm partners, including Full Belly Farm, Riverdog Farm, Terra Firma Farm, Pinnacle Organics, Coke Farm, Feeding Crane Farm, Starbright Acres, and FogDog Farm. The farm's land is held in perpetuity by the Bear Yuba Land Trust through the Forever Farms partnership, protecting it from development and ensuring continued organic food production for the region.
