Naturally grown hardneck garlic farm offering garlic seed and eating bulbs in several varieties.
Slong Garlic Farm has been growing hardneck garlic in Illinois since 2015. The farm sells garlic both as seed stock and as bulbs for eating, priced by the pound. Varieties on offer include German White, Chesnok Red, Music, Persian Star, and Deerfield, with additional varieties added regularly. Garlic scapes are also available when in season. Beyond fresh garlic, the farm sells a hardneck garlic planter designed to simplify fall planting. Seed garlic is available for pre-order, with shipping in the fall. Learn more on their About Page.
Slong Garlic Farm grows its garlic without the use of chemical pesticides or herbicides. The farm is a member of the Sustainable Farming Association and its garlic has tested negative for Garlic Bloat Nematode. Garlic is planted in the fall, cured by hanging in a cool and dry space with good airflow, and trimmed for market after fully drying. The farm saves its largest bulbs each season for replanting.
