Heartland Fresh Family Farm is a family-operated farm in the rolling hills of southeast Iowa, run by Leslie and Mark Hulsebus alongside their children. The children represent the fifth generation of farmers on the land. The farm raises pastured livestock, free-range poultry, and naturally grown vegetables. Heartland Fresh welcomes visitors at any time and uses the farm as a classroom to teach about sustainable agriculture. Most of the farm's livestock graze pasture for nearly all of their lives. Heartland Fresh Family Farm uses no antibiotics, no hormone implants, and no chemical fertilizers or herbicides on any of its pastures or produce. The farm takes a non-industrial, sustainable approach to agriculture, emphasizing diversity across pastured livestock, free-range poultry, and naturally grown vegetables to build healthy soil.
