USDA certified organic vegetable farm with a CSA, farm store, and ice cream shop
Shortt's Farm and CSA is a family-run farm founded in 1995 by Jim Shortt and his late mother, Dolly Shortt. The farm has grown over the years to span multiple properties and today focuses on growing USDA certified organic vegetables. Alongside its farm stand, Shortt's operates a popular CSA program, an on-site farm store, and an ice cream shop. The farm also participates in a local farmers' market. In addition to its own produce and eggs, the store carries products from other small local businesses, including dairy, smoked meats, beef, honey, jams, baked goods, and more. The Shortt family aims to keep the farm growing as a second-generation operation. Learn more on their About Page.
The vegetables grown at Shortt's Farm are USDA certified organic. The farm also sells USDA certified organic vegetable plants, including many heirloom varieties, for home gardening. Sweet corn offered at the farm is noted as non-organic. The CSA delivers 6 to 10 varieties of freshly picked vegetables each week, harvested the day of member pickup. CSA members also have access to a pick-your-own herb garden with herbs, hot peppers, and okra. The farm store stocks products from named partner farms and producers, including Arethusa Farm dairy, Nodine's smokehouse pork, and Why Not Farm beef.
