Serenity Farm is a 40-acre family operation run by Brad and Tiffany Dilts on the outskirts of Sedgwick, Kansas. The farm has offered a four-season CSA program since 2014, delivering weekly shares of vegetables, eggs, and pasture-raised chicken to members in the Wichita area. CSA shares are available in full or half sizes across four eight-week seasons, covering cool-season greens, summer vegetables, fall root crops, and winter tunnel-grown greens. Members can pick up shares at a Wichita drop-off location or directly on the farm. The farm also sells produce and other items individually through its online store. Serenity Farm grows fruits and vegetables from non-GMO, predominantly heirloom seeds without chemical pesticides or herbicides. The farm uses regenerative methods including minimal tillage, cover cropping, and multi-year crop rotations to rebuild and maintain soil fertility. Ground cover is kept in place at all times using mulch or cover crops to reduce erosion and retain moisture. Fertility is built through on-farm compost made from garden scraps, leaves, and grass clippings, as well as rabbit manure applied directly to beds and composted animal manure. Worm castings are used to support seedlings, and chickens and rabbits are rotated through garden beds between crops to add fertility and control weeds. Livestock, including laying hens and Freedom Ranger broiler chickens, are raised on pasture and fed organic, non-GMO grain. Freedom Ranger chickens are a slow-growing breed raised to 12 to 14 weeks before harvest.
