Seaview Farm is a family farm in Rockport, Massachusetts, run by Ken and Regina Lane, who took over the property in 2009 and expanded it from a horse boarding operation into a working farm and retail store. The farm raises pasture-raised beef on site and grows its own vegetables using organic and sustainable methods. Its farm store carries beef, pork, poultry, honey raised locally in Rockport and Gloucester, kombucha, and locally produced ice cream. The store also sells vegetables and flowers from partner growers on the property. Products are available for online order with farm pickup, as well as in the on-site store.
Seaview Farm raises its beef cattle using an intensive rotational grazing model, where the herd is pastured all summer on fields the farm manages to build soil health. No feed-grade antibiotics or growth hormones are used on the cattle, and the farm runs an active breeding program selecting for health, mobility, temperament, and beef marbling. Vegetables are grown on the farm using organic and sustainable methods, with variety selection weighted toward flavor over yield. To reduce carbon emissions, the farm uses cover crops on any plowed land, improves pastures through no-till or freeze-crack-seeding to minimize fuel use, and has transitioned to lower-emission diesel tractors. Hay land is managed as a carbon sink, with minimal disruption to the soil. Pork and chicken come from partner farms that share the farm's values and goals.
