Cedar Rock Gardens

Cedar Rock Gardens follows organic growing guidelines throughout its operation, using only organic fertilizers, pest controls, and growing techniques. Seeds are ordered largely from organic and local sources, and most plants are started from seed in an organic seed-starting mix that includes mycorrhizae to support root development. Plants are then grown on in Vermont Compost Fort Vee blend combined with organic slow-release fertility amendments. For pest management, the farm relies on a biological approach: beneficial insects including ladybugs, parasitic wasps, nematodes, praying mantis, predatory mites, and lacewings are introduced to control pests without chemical use. The farm also brews and applies compost tea on-site to support plant health and guard against mildew diseases. Greenhouse climate, including temperature, humidity, and airflow, is actively managed throughout the growing season to keep plants in good condition.
