Certified Naturally Grown vegetable microfarm with a direct-to-consumer hub for produce, local meat, eggs, and more.
Sandy's Way Microfarm is a 5-acre operation in Sedalia, Colorado, founded in 2015 by Cale, who grew a suburban backyard garden into a full production farm. The farm runs sixty-six 30-inch by 50-foot growing beds, three high tunnels, and nearly 13,000 square feet of production space. It is the only Certified Naturally Grown farm producing vegetables for direct-to-consumer sales in Douglas County. Its Community Harvest Hub also offers locally raised beef and chicken, pastured eggs, artisan bread, Einkorn flour, seasonal Palisade fruit, local cheese, and products from Rome's Sausage Company. Customers can order without a membership, sign up for a prepaid Harvest Membership, or pick up at the farm on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. The farm takes its name from Ebrain "Sandy" Santiago, Cale's father-in-law, whose inheritance funded the land. Learn more on their About Page.
Sandy's Way Microfarm holds Certified Naturally Grown (CNG) certification, which prohibits synthetic pesticides, herbicides, and synthetic fertilizers. The farm's approach centers on building living soil through composting and cover cropping rather than feeding plants with synthetic inputs. Vegetables are harvested to order, often on the day of delivery. Cale selects heirloom and open-pollinated varieties chosen for flavor rather than shelf life or appearance, including tomato, pepper, and carrot varieties not typically found in grocery stores. The CNG program uses peer inspection by other farmers rather than federal auditor review.
