Overview
First-generation apiary producing Aggieland Honey, live bees, and beeswax goods in the Brazos Valley.
Prime Bees is a first-generation bee farm and apiary run by full-time beekeeper Justin Scott and his team. The operation grew from a single package of bees to more than 2,000 colonies, with many of those bees sourced through live removals and swarm rescues that were then rehabilitated at the farm. The apiary produces Aggieland Honey, a lightly filtered, 100% real Texas honey that retains native pollens, natural enzymes, and phytonutrients. Beyond honey, Prime Bees sells beeswax products, handmade soaps, and lip balm, and offers nucleus colonies, top bar nucs, and locally raised queen bees for purchase. The farm also hosts agritourism experiences including hive tours, beekeeping lessons, and encaustic painting workshops, and offers on-site farm stays. Learn more on their About Page.
Prime Bees focuses on sustainable, responsible beekeeping, selecting colonies for survival traits, temperament, and honey production. Many colonies began as rescued bees removed from structures and private properties across the Brazos Valley, then rehabilitated into the apiary. Aggieland Honey is lightly filtered to remove large wax particles while preserving pollen, flavor, and natural composition. Buyers may occasionally find small wax or large pollen pieces, and flavor shifts seasonally with the local bloom. The honey is produced under the "Real Texas Honey" program, which promotes Texas bees and beekeepers. Prime Bees maintains hives at more than 150 sites on agricultural and rural land with natural water sources and diverse forage. The team belongs to the American Beekeeping Federation, Texas Beekeeping Association, Brazos Valley Beekeeping Association, and Central Texas Beekeepers Association, and continues its education through the Texas Master Beekeeper Program.
