Lick Honest Ice Creams was founded in Austin in 2011 by Anthony Sobotik and Chad Palmatier around a simple belief: everyone deserves great-tasting ice cream made with honest ingredients. Flavors span year-round staples and rotating seasonals, all built from what is currently in season. The lineup includes options like Roasted Beets and Fresh Mint, Hill Country Honey and Vanilla Bean, and Dark Chocolate, Olive Oil and Sea Salt, alongside a dedicated dairy-free menu. Scoop shops also offer a Scoop Society membership keychain that unlocks everyday discounts and monthly rotating promotions. Catering, events, a scoop truck, and wholesale partnerships round out the operation.

Lick's dairy base comes from a fourth-generation family-owned creamery that has operated for over 110 years, running a closed-loop system in which milk and cream are sourced directly from its own farm. Custom bases are made with no artificial stabilizers, colors, or preservatives. Beyond the dairy, Lick sources ingredients from farms and makers across Texas: mint and beets from East Austin, lavender and peaches from the Hill Country, and pecans, citrus, honey, and herbs from long-established regional growers. The business also works with local chocolatiers, beekeepers, and coffee roasters. Vanilla beans used in several flavors are Nielsen-Massey fair-trade, chocolate is fair-trade, and the coffee in the Coffee with Cream flavor is direct trade. Out-of-season ingredients are not used.
