Pop Yuncker's Farmstead is a family farm in Mt. Vernon, Indiana, operated by Brandon Pfeiffer. The farm grows heirloom popcorn and dent corn on the same land where Pop Yuncker taught Pfeiffer to farm decades earlier. Popcorn production began in earnest in spring 2020, starting with a small plot of organic, non-GMO, heirloom varieties. Beyond grain crops, the farm also raises pastured heritage breed hogs, pastured chickens, eggs, and grassfed beef. Products are available through Local Source, an online farmers market serving the Evansville, Indiana area.
Pop Yuncker's Farmstead grows its popcorn and dent corn as certified organic crops. Rather than relying on commercial herbicides, the farm controls weeds through crop rotations and manual removal. Hogs and chickens are raised on pasture, and the farm's beef cattle are grassfed. The farming approach is rooted in methods passed down from Pop Yuncker himself.
