First-generation East Texas farm raising grass-finished beef, pasture-raised pork and chicken, and seasonal vegetables using regenerative practices.
Pickenpaugh Family Farm is a first-generation regenerative family farm founded in January 2022 by Ryan and Bri Pickenpaugh, with Ryan's parents Bill and Cheryl as partners on their 64-acre property. The farm raises grass-finished beef, 100% pasture-raised chicken, and pasture-raised pork, alongside seasonal vegetables grown using regenerative, no-till methods. Products are available through a self-serve on-farm store, online ordering with delivery, and a monthly meat bundle subscription. Ryan Pickenpaugh, a cancer survivor and former engineer, leads the operation with a focus on regenerative agriculture practices that he describes as central to both his personal story and the farm's mission. Beef cattle are rotationally grazed on a 20-acre pasture. Cover crops provide year-round forage and soil health, and organic soil amendments correct nutrient deficiencies. Cattle receive no grain or growth hormones. Pigs are raised in a woodland pasture, moved weekly to fresh ground, and fed a Non-GMO, corn-free, soy-free Resaca Sun Feeds ration. Chickens are moved to fresh grass daily and fed the same ration plus vitamins, minerals, and electrolytes. Pig and chicken feed is made from above-ground-harvested milo, canola, barley, wheat, field peas, kelp, and fish. Antibiotics are used only when medically necessary, and all withdrawal periods are exceeded before processing. Cows and pigs are processed under USDA inspection at Panola County Processing. Chickens are processed under USDA inspection at Windy Meadows Farm. Vegetables are grown from non-GMO seeds using no-till methods, organic soil amendments, and no herbicides, pesticides, or synthetic poisons. Low tunnels manage pests.
