Small family farm growing specialty heirloom and organic produce, with a Farm Box program and restaurant partnerships.
Comeback Creek Farm is a 100-acre family farm in Pittsburg, Texas, founded in 2005 by John Kilburn. Aliza Kilburn joined full-time in 2012, and the two run every aspect of the operation themselves, from planting and harvesting to packing and delivery. The farm specializes in high-quality, organically grown vegetables, including specialty heirloom and hybrid varieties, grown for exceptional flavor rather than shelf life or shipping distance. Comeback Creek Farm sells its produce to the public through a seasonal Farm Box program, with pick-up locations across the Dallas metroplex, and also partners with chefs and restaurants in the Dallas area. The farm began selling at the Dallas Farmers Market before launching a CSA that evolved into its current Farm Box program. Learn more on their About Page.
Comeback Creek Farm farms using low-impact, sustainable methods with no synthetic pesticides, no synthetic herbicides, and no harmful chemical fertilizers. The farm does not use genetically modified (GMO) seed, and raises every transplant from seed purchased from seed companies it deems reputable. Weed control relies on tractor cultivation, hand weeding and hoeing, and black plastic mulch. When pest control is necessary beyond hand removal, the farm uses only methods approved for organic use. Ten of its 100 acres are in active cultivation.
