Fine dining restaurant featuring the regional Italian cuisines of Piemonte and Liguria, with house-made pasta and salumi.
Perbacco brings flavors of Italy's Piemonte and Liguria regions, with a touch of Provence, to San Francisco's Financial District. The name, an Italian expression of pleasure and surprise, nods to Bacchus, god of wine and good times. Owner Umberto Gibin has spent nearly three decades sharing his Italian food and wine knowledge, formerly at notable restaurants such as Chianti, Poggio, Fifth Floor, and Masa's. Executive Chef Staffan Terje leads the kitchen, serving seasonal pastas, house-made salumi and charcuterie, and seafood to braised meats. The restaurant occupies a 1913 building with Carrara marble bar tops and floor tiles, 16 bar seats, two main dining rooms, and a mezzanine with kitchen views. Private dining serves groups of varying sizes, including a temperature-controlled wine cellar room. Learn more on their About Page.
Perbacco makes its salumi, prosciutto, and other charcuterie in-house. Seasonal pastas are a cornerstone of the menu, reflecting the Piemontese tradition, and range from agnolotti dal plin and tajarin to fresh-filled shapes that change with the season. The dinner menu sources duck from Liberty Farm. The kitchen draws on ingredients associated with the regions of Piemonte and Liguria, including Carnaroli rice, Mozzarella di Bufala, Prosciutto di Parma, and Marcona almonds.
