Certified Naturally Grown microgreens, gourmet mushrooms, fermented garlic, and heirloom vegetables from a pesticide-free farm.
Peasant Revolt Farm is a small-scale, first-generation farm founded in 2023 by Frances and Jaymee, who farm a small plot in Cherry Valley, Illinois. The farm specializes in fresh microgreens, gourmet mushrooms, fermented garlic, and a diversity of heirloom vegetables. It is Certified Naturally Grown and operates entirely without synthetic pesticides or herbicides. Products are available at farmers markets and through an online shop. The farm also offers market bags, handmade soap, and branded merchandise. All animals on the property are kept as pets or rescues, with no livestock raised for sale.
Peasant Revolt Farm holds Certified Naturally Grown (CNG) certification, a peer-reviewed program that prohibits synthetic herbicides and pesticides and does not permit animal confinement. The farm's plot has never been used in industrial or conventional agriculture, meaning no synthetic chemicals have been applied to or accumulated in the soil. Each season the farm adds large quantities of local compost and uses biodegradable materials such as cardboard, woodchips, and straw. A precision depth roller on the walk-behind tractor limits soil disturbance to the top inch or two, preserving soil life. Pest management relies on physical removal, over-planting to absorb crop losses, a cayenne pepper spray to deter small mammals, and invisible deer fencing made from fishing line. No herbicides are used; weeds are managed manually.
