Pasture-raised meat, eggs, and a meat CSA from a rotationally grazed Indiana farm.
Nightfall Farm raises chickens, pigs, lambs, and turkeys on pasture, and sells eggs alongside its meat. The farm offers a meat and egg CSA with shares available twice a year, as well as farmers market sales and a freezer-stocking order option for one-time purchases. CSA members pay upfront and pick up their shares monthly at sites in Madison, Columbus, and Seymour, Indiana. Seasonal Thanksgiving turkeys are also available. Beyond food, the farm offers visits, farm stays, and intern and apprentice programs. Sheep hides are available as a separate product. Learn more on their About Page.
Nightfall Farm uses rotational grazing as the foundation of its operation, moving all animals to fresh pasture every 12 to 48 hours depending on the species. Chickens are raised in open-bottomed 'chicken tractors' that keep them on grass continuously, rotating to new pasture each morning; chicks move onto pasture at 2.5 weeks of age. Laying hens receive a fresh paddock weekly, with their shelter moved daily. Pigs are rotated to fresh pasture every two days and are fed a GMO-free mix of corn, soybeans, oats, and minerals, supplemented by forage. Lambs are rotated to new paddocks approximately every day and a half. The farm does not use antibiotics or hormones to promote growth. The farm states that rotational grazing builds soil health, sequesters carbon, and supports local wildlife.
