Naturally-leavened breads, pastries, and canelés from an Oak Park bakery rooted in whole grains and local sourcing.
Faria Bakery started as a cottage bakery before moving to a brick-and-mortar shop in Sacramento's Oak Park neighborhood. It produces naturally-leavened sourdough breads, French pastries, and coffee drinks. Signature items include canelés, croissants, morning buns, and a miso country loaf made with housemade miso and brown rice porridge. Beyond bread and pastries, the bakery also offers a weekly pizza night, churns its own ice creams, and ferments miso in-house. Baking classes are available for those looking for a hands-on experience. Learn more on their About Page.
Faria Bakery's whole wheat loaf is made with 100% organic California-grown, stone-milled Yecora Rojo flour with flax; the grains are grown and milled within a two-hour radius of Sacramento. The canelé is made with spelt flour, Alexandre Farms milk, and Riverdog Farm eggs. The olive loaf combines local polenta with a mix of Castelvetrano and Kalamata olives. The bakery sources ingredients from local farmers and food purveyors and ferments its own miso in-house.
