Diverse heritage-breed livestock, heirloom vegetables, eggs, honey, and a year-round CSA from an organic farm.
Moon In The Pond Farm is a small, diversified organic farm established in 1991 on a farmstead dating to the late 1760s, operating on approximately 150 acres of owned and leased, conserved land. It raises heritage-breed livestock for meat, including Horned Dorset sheep, Scottish Highland cattle, Large Black pigs, and poultry such as meat chickens, Pilgrim geese, and Khaki Campbell ducks. The farm also produces eggs, honey, Winecap and Shiitake mushrooms, and heirloom vegetables. Products are sold directly to families at the farm and at local farmers' markets, and through a flexible year-round CSA program called Bacon Bucks. Moon In The Pond operates as a nonprofit educational organization; all sales proceeds support its educational mission, which includes farmer apprenticeships, seasonal internships, school group programs, and farm tours. Learn more on their About Page.
Moon In The Pond Farm practices organic and regenerative agriculture. It uses no chemical pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers, and no routine antibiotics or veterinary drugs except in emergencies. Animals are kept outdoors on rotated pasture and in woodlands. Cows and sheep are grass-fed, never given grain, and receive farm or neighboring local hay in winter. Pigs, chickens, turkeys, and geese eat certified organic whole grains grown in the northeast. Animals are slaughtered at a small, local, farm-family-owned, Animal Welfare Approved facility. Vegetables are grown only as heirloom varieties in heavily mulched, composted plots, each left fallow two years out of three to support soil regeneration. Irrigation is not routinely used. The farm raises only heritage breeds, chosen for resilience without chemical inputs. Processed products use organic ingredients, traditional recipes, and no chemical additives, preservatives, fillers, MSG, or nitrites.
