Mint Creek Farm

All animals at Mint Creek Farm rotationally graze on Certified-Organic pastures, moving every few days to fresh ground. The farm stewards a diversity of primarily heritage breeds across its species. Cows are 100% grass-fed and grass-finished. Sheep and goats receive Certified-Organic fermented soy fiber as a probiotic and prebiotic supplement, sourced locally, with organic hay provided during winter when pastures are dormant. Pigs, chickens, and turkeys forage the farm's pastures and are offered Certified-Organic grains and beans daily, cooked and/or fermented on-site in small batches; these are sourced mostly from Janie's Mill. Four-legged animals live their full lifecycle on the farm and are processed at Eureka Locker, the only Certified-Organic butcher in Illinois. The Carr family studied Biodynamic agriculture and uses rotational grazing of perennial pastures as a core practice for soil, forage, and animal health.
