Midnight Sun Farm

Midnight Sun Farm grows produce without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, conserving soil, water, and ecosystems. Pests are managed through crop rotation and plant health, plus floating row cover, inter-cropping, beneficial insects, diatomaceous earth, and BT, an OMRI-approved biological control. Weeds are controlled by cover cropping, mulching, and mechanical cultivation. Soil fertility comes from cover cropping, chicken and turkey manure, direct pasturing, and OMRI-approved fertilizers. Seeds come only from companies with non-GMO pledges, using organic seed when available. Seedlings start in OMRI-approved, compost-based potting mix. Laying hens live in a permanent barn with access to pasture and forest, moving freely indoors and out. Turkeys graze rotational pasture with moveable shelters. All poultry are raised from chicks without growth hormones or antibiotics. Birds eat conventional grain plus farm produce overflow and foraged grasses, seeds, and insects.
