Grass-fed beef sticks from a single family ranch on the North Dakota Badlands prairie.
Meadowlark Beef is a family ranch operation producing grass-fed beef sticks from native Badlands grassland outside Medora, North Dakota. The ranch has been running cattle on the same land since 1993, when Kim Shade established the operation. His grandchildren launched Meadowlark Beef to bring that ranch-raised beef to a wider table in the form of hickory smoked snack sticks, available in summer style and jalapeño pepperoni varieties, sold individually or in bundles. The business also offers a wholesale program for retailers.
Meadowlark Beef holds Audubon Conservation Ranching certification, making it one of seven such certified ranches in North Dakota. Cattle are grass-fed on open native prairie and raised with no feedlot, no hormones, and no antibiotics. The herd is managed on horseback and rotated across the land so grassland has time to recover between grazes. That land management practice is designed to keep the native prairie, its soil, and the bird species that depend on it in good health, a commitment reflected in the ranch's Audubon certification.
