Overview

Estate-grown organic wines, culinary herbs, bay leaf wreaths, garlic braids, and wild rice from a family vineyard and farm.

McFadden Family Vineyard & Farm is a family-owned estate in Potter Valley that Guinness McFadden founded in 1970, making it one of the first commercial grape operations in the region. The 442-acre property straddles the East Fork of the Russian River, borders the Mendocino National Forest, and sits at roughly 1,200 feet of elevation. The farm produces estate-grown wines under the Blue Quail, Fontaine, and McFadden labels, with whites, reds, rosé, and sparkling varieties. Beyond wine, it grows and sells culinary herbs, garlic braids, bay leaf wreaths and garlands, and wild rice. Grapes have been sold over the years to wineries including Robert Mondavi, Chateau Montelena, Beringer, and Navarro, before the family launched its own labels starting in 2003. The farm is not regularly open to the public, but visits can be arranged by appointment.
