Heritage Dutch Belted dairy farm offering glass-bottled milk, pastured meats, eggs, and maple syrup.
Manning Hill Farm is a 126-acre diversified farm in the southwest corner of New Hampshire, owned and operated by Sarah Costa and Sam Canonica. The farm centers on a herd of heritage Dutch Belted dairy cows, a rare breed known for producing naturally homogenized, premium-quality milk. That milk is gently pasteurized on-farm in small batches and bottled in reusable glass bottles. Manning Hill Farm also sells chocolate milk made without high fructose corn syrup, along with pastured beef, pork, chicken, eggs, and maple syrup. Products are available at the on-farm store, at the Keene Farmers Market, and through select retail and restaurant accounts across the Monadnock region.
Manning Hill Farm raises heritage Dutch Belted dairy cows and runs a breeding-up program aimed at increasing the number of registered purebred Dutch Belted cattle in the United States. The milk is vat pasteurized at low temperature in small batches, a process the farm uses to preserve flavor and nutrients, then quickly cooled and bottled on-site in reusable glass. Dutch Belted cows naturally produce milk with small fat globules, yielding milk that is naturally homogenized without mechanical processing. Beef cattle, pigs, and chickens are raised on pasture. The farm also produces hay, including square and round bales, and has a maple sugaring operation on its conserved land.
