Little Ark Farm

Little Ark Farm holds USDA Organic certification and goes further with a set of documented land-stewardship principles. The farm uses specialized lightweight equipment to limit soil disturbance to a single inch of depth rather than the standard six, and rotates plantings so beds have a six-year recovery period where deeper disturbance is needed. After harvesting annual crops, the team immediately plants cover grasses and clovers to keep living roots in the soil through winter. Ducks and geese graze cover crops, spread manure, and provide pest control across the farm's pasture. To protect pollinators, only three organic-approved pesticides are used: neem oil, spinosad, and castile soap, always applied at dusk. The farm also maintains trees, shrubs, and undisturbed patches of grasses and wildflowers to support songbirds, beneficial insects, and other pollinators.
