LevYah Farm and Ranch is a small family operation that has raised pastured poultry for sale since 2015, inspired by Joel Salatin's model of sustainable farming. The farm offers whole chickens and a range of cuts including breasts, thighs, drumsticks, wings, feet, and carcasses. Alongside its broiler program, LevYah raises pastured yaks, goats, a flock of heritage turkeys, geese, ducks, and tends a seasonal vegetable garden. Orders are picked up at planned drop locations. LevYah Farm and Ranch raises Freedom Rangers, also known as Red Rangers, a breed developed by French farmers for foraging and flavor. Chicks begin in a warm brooder and, after two to four weeks, move into floorless pens that are moved one to two times per day to give the birds continuous access to fresh grass, weeds, bugs, and open air. In addition to forage, the chickens receive a GMO-free grain ration sourced from a local Kansas farm, which the farm describes as beyond organic. The moveable-pen system protects birds from predators while keeping them on fresh pasture throughout the grow-out.
