Multigenerational family farm raising 100% grass-fed beef, lamb, pasture-raised poultry, heritage pork, and organic eggs.
Kirkview Farms is a multigenerational family farm in North Glengarry, Ontario, operated by Mike and Cora MacGillivray. The land has been in the family since an original patent granted in 1796, and the farm currently works 196 acres of that original holding. Kirkview raises 100% grass-fed beef and lamb, pasture-raised chicken, turkey, and duck, heritage pork (Tamworth and Berkshire breeds), organic eggs, and produces maple products. Beef and lamb are raised through their full life cycle on the farm, so the complete feeding history of each animal is known. Products are available as whole, half, or select cuts, and the farm sells through its own online shop. Learn more on their About Page.
Kirkview Farms applies the six principles of regenerative agriculture combined with permaculture design, with the goal of improving soil, animals, and the surrounding environment rather than simply sustaining the status quo. Cattle and sheep are rotational-grazed and moved onto fresh pasture at least once per day during the grazing season. Poultry are raised in portable tractors moved daily onto fresh grass. All animals are supplemented with locally sourced organic feed. Heritage pig breeds (Tamworth and Berkshire) are pasture-raised and fed locally sourced organic feed and hay. The farm commits to humane and ethical processing in accordance with applicable government regulations, and states its aim is to reduce antibiotic use through proper animal nutrition. In addition to its own 196 acres, Kirkview stewards over 650 acres of North Glengarry farmland for future generations.
