Family-run farm offering grass-fed Angus beef, pastured pork, and pastured chicken via CSA subscription and direct delivery.
Grazing Days is a family-owned and -operated farm in St.-André-Avellin, Quebec, run by Paul Slomp and Josée Cyr-Charlebois. The farm has been raising Angus beef cattle since 2010 and has grown to include pastured pork and pastured chicken. Grazing Days sells its meat directly to households in the Ottawa-Gatineau region through two models: an annual CSA subscription and an order-by-the-cut option. Subscription shares range from a sampler box to a full side of beef, with deliveries spread across the season. The farm also offers whole, half, and quarter-animal purchases. It is a founding member of the Farmhouse Food Cooperative. Learn more on their About Page.
Cattle at Grazing Days are 100% grass-fed and grass-finished, eating fresh pasture in summer and hay or haylage in winter, with no grain ever. Pigs and chickens are pasture-raised, moving to fresh grass regularly; because neither species can thrive on grass alone, their diets are supplemented with certified organic grain, free from GMOs and animal by-products. The farm also feeds pigs non-GMO spent grains from a local brewery and whey from a local cheese maker when available. No artificial growth hormones are used on any animals. Antibiotics are not used prophylactically; in the rare cases where therapeutic antibiotic treatment is given, that animal is moved to a separately disclosed production stream. Processed products such as bacon and ham are made without nitrates or nitrites from any source. On the land side, the farm uses adaptive multi-paddock (mob) grazing techniques aimed at building soil carbon and restoring soil health.
