Family farm raising pastured eggs, pork, chicken, and seasonal lamb and turkey in Northern Colorado.
Jodar Farms is a family-run farm in Northern Colorado, operating since Aaron Rice began raising meat chickens in 2009 after the Rice family settled the property in 1992. The farm raises eggs, pork, and chicken as its core products, with lamb and turkey available as specialty seasonal items. Laying hens come from a wide variety of breeds, which produces eggs in a range of colors and sizes. Hogs are generally Yorkshire/Hampshire crosses, with Berkshire and Duroc genetics also incorporated. Individual cuts and eggs are available through an online farm store with Front Range pickup locations, and CSA memberships offer prepaid credit for seasonal ordering. Pigs are also sold in half and whole orders. Learn more on their About Page.
Jodar Farms raises its animals using pasture-based models with direct access to shelter and the outdoors. The farm emphasizes a varied diet: animals forage on pasture, have access to large compost areas, and receive a custom grain ration milled at Agfinity Feeds in Eaton, CO. That grain ration contains corn and soy in ratios adjusted by animal type and maturity, and is derived from conventionally raised, likely GMO-sourced grains. The farm supplements animal diets with spent brewers grains collected directly from several local breweries, including Equinox, Horse and Dragon, New Belgium's Pilot Program, and CB and Pott's. The farm maintains complete records of where animals come from, how they are raised, and where they are processed, and makes those records available to members.
