Raw honey, honeycomb, beeswax candles, and bee pollen from a North Barrington apiary.
Honey Lake Bee Company is an apiary run by Karen and Brian Thomson, who have been rooted in North Barrington for 30 years. Brian's beekeeping history stretches back to 1975, and the operation was revived in 2016, growing to more than 250 hives. Their son Colin joined the business full time in 2025. The company produces raw honey in seasonal varieties, honeycomb, fresh bee pollen, 100% pure beeswax candles, and lip balms. Products are sold online, at area farmers markets, and through local retail partners. Local pickup is also available at the property. Learn more on their About Page.
All honey is raw and sourced exclusively from the company's own beehives in and around North Barrington. Honey Lake Bee Company maintains distinct seasonal harvests, including spring, summer, fall, and goldenrod varieties. The business states it never feeds sugar water to bees while they are making honey, and it monitors honey moisture levels to keep them below 18%. Bee pollen is sold fresh, never dried, and stored refrigerated or frozen. Beeswax candles are made using beeswax sourced from the Midwest only.
