Veteran-owned apiary offering raw honey, creamed honey, beeswax products, and beehive tours
Hillside Honey Apiary is a veteran-owned bee and flower farm located at The Chalkboard Farm, a historic 1920s brick schoolhouse property in Easton, Kansas. It is owned and operated by Ty Martin, an Army veteran of 24 years, and his wife Shelley. The apiary produces raw, unpasteurized honey in wildflower varietals from both Kansas and Missouri, along with creamed and infused honeys. Beyond honey, the business makes beeswax candles and a full line of beeswax-based personal care products including lip balms, lotion bars, hand cream, salves, deodorant, and soap. Hillside Honey also sells beekeeping supplies, rents extractors, and offers guided beehive tours and field trip experiences. Products are available at the farm and at the Leavenworth Farmers Market. Learn more on their About Page.
Hillside Honey Apiary keeps its hives at bee yards along the Missouri River Valley, spanning locations in both Kansas and Missouri. Its honeybees forage on wildflowers, orchards, and produce farms throughout the region. Honey is harvested twice during the summer, with the remainder left in the hive to sustain the bees through winter. The business extracts honey, renders beeswax, bottles its products, and makes all personal care items on location in a State Certified food processing kitchen. Personal care products are made in small batches using beeswax sourced from the apiary's own hives.
