First-generation mixed farm and farmstand offering sourdough bread, eggs, local meats, jams, and homesteading classes in Elgin, TX.
Headlong Farm is a first-generation mixed farm and home-made foods operation on roughly 14 acres in Elgin, Texas, founded by Matt and Tess in 2020 on a former horse ranch. The farm operates a year-round on-farm store, described by the owners as a 'country bodega', stocking eggs, meat, milk, cheese, jams, baked goods, and more. Fresh sourdough bread, cakes, pastries, and cookies are made on-site, with fresh bakes available on Saturday mornings. Beyond groceries, Headlong Farm sells homesteading-related goods, skincare, and housewares, and also offers hands-on classes covering skills such as traditional blacksmithing. Products are also available through an online shop and at the Elgin Farmers Market. Learn more on their About Page.
Headlong Farm selects products for its store with a preference for pasture-raised, organic, regenerative, seasonal, and local goods. All food products in the store come from local producers, and most is farmed, raised, or made within about 60 miles of the farm. The business describes learning and applying regenerative practices as part of its farming journey. The farm also carries organic ingredients, such as organic all-purpose flour, among its grocery offerings.
